Hi all,

A long weekend away has made this one of those last thing Wednesday kind of editions. Here’s what I’ve been taking in of late.

• Read some great articles this week that have me gosh darn excited about the homegrown-software movement that AI is currently spawning : Apps without ambition / AI and Home-Cooked Software.

• AI interfaces and the role of good writing.

• I was (still am) a huge Lemonheads fan, and I devoured frontman Evan Dando’s new memoir over the weekend. Honestly it was pretty terrible. Dando fans should read it anyway.

• Trust isn’t a feature — it’s the interface.

• Matthew Inman, aka The Oatmeal’s take on why consuming AI art is like eating styrofoam.

• Low-key inspired by what Austin Kleon does when. he finishes filling up a notebook.

• How AI redefines user interfaces, and why the chat box gets it wrong.

• The UX butterfly effect - Understanding unintended consequences in design and how to plan for them.

• And finally, The importance of taste, and other lies we tell ourselves.
